About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To learn as much as I can about the country that the whole world seems to hold in slight contempt and yet I still call home

ABOUT ME

I grew up in a middle class family, lived in the same house my whole life, and went to the same school system and saw the same people for 12 years. I decided early on that college life was not my scene, and that the travelling bug had bit me too hard to ignore. I do this in hopes that others will follow suit, question the lives that have been laid out for them, and learn to enjoy the uncertainty of the open road.

PHILOSOPHY

Never stop learning, everyone has something to teach you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Although I don't have a stable couch that people can sleep on right now, I have a passion for making connections with people, especially the kind of people who would participate in a project like that. This is the kind of organization I could see myself dedicating a lot of time and energy to, and in the future when I have a place to call my own, I'd be more than happy to have some intrepid surfers make use of my couch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

After a brief period of couch surfing last summer (staying in the Greater Lansing area, nothing too exciting), I found myself unable to readjust to a stable home. I did need to finish school, however, so now that it's over, I'm setting out hitchhiking across the States. I like all sorts of couches, kitchen floors, crawlspaces, attics, empty cupboards, dog houses, basically anything I can fit a sleeping bag and backpack in.

Interests

Warm weather, new experiences, other people who consider a "normal" life a bit lacking.
I love music (jazz, alternative, indie, psy trance), kief, and coffee.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love surrealist movies, psychedelic trance music, and stream of consciousness novels.
But really, I'll watch/listen to/read anything I haven't before. I'm not too picky.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Situated halfway up the hundred foot drop off Sleeping Bear Dunes to Lake Michigan, watching wet air from the lake roll up the sheer cliff side and turn into a low hanging cloud that caught every passing ray of light given off by the sunset, making the journey back like walking through a forest of light. It made me appreciate the natural beauty of my home state a hundred times more.

Teach, Learn, Share

I haven't really found my area of expertise yet, that's kind of what travelling is about for me. But I'm able to have a deep conversation about just about anything, I love talking and listening to what other people have to say.
