ABOUT ME

So far I've lived a pretty interesting life. It's mostly been defined by my inability to accept conventional models & has led to a great collection of occupations, situations & places. Eventually it led me to Maui & I think I'll be good here for a long while. My time these days is spent surfing, building interesting stuff, exploring & playing anything that one could attempt music with.

PHILOSOPHY

Any attempt to define what's going on is bound to lead to a more limited range of experience because now you've created a box that it's gotta fit into. The problem solving part of the mind cannot accept this & tries anyway, but I'm doing my best to just let it be.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'd just gotten outta a few days of rain on a mountain in New Zealand & hitched into the closest town, everything soaked. Saw this old guy with long dreads & asked him about some herbs. He brought us back to this house he was sitting for somebody who was in jail. He had a young son & the place was filled with teenage runaway types that were waiting for the fruit picking season to begin. The guy made a giant meal for all of us & we sat around a big table & ate like a family. It happened to be Thanksgiving that day, but it didn't mean anything to the kiwis, so I got to explain American Thanksgiving to all these kids around our simple, but plentiful, dinner in a warm, dry house.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I woke up in a bay this morning & was particularly amazed by a wave that broke over a big rock & then peeled out across the bay. It was gorgeous.

Teach, Learn, Share

Longboard skateboard shaping, yurt building, running a car on stright veggie oil, school bus retrofit, building just about anything really. Anything I know musically (guitar, banjo, sitar, bass etc.), surfing, making fire apparatus, other random stuff.
