Hello everyone!!!!
My name is Jon, I am 23 and from California. I have always been interested in traveling, and so now I finally am. I started in December, and I’ve been to Portugal, Spain, France, and now I’m in England, with Ireland soon to come. I was working at a youth hostel in Faro for a month, then a surf camp in Costa de Caparica. Both were absolutely amazing! I then started cycling from Bordeaux. I cycled Bordeaux to Caen, then took the ferry to Portsmouth, and cycled my way towards London. After London I will be going to Oxford and Manchester, then I will start in Ireland. So as you can tell it’s been a journey.

Why am I doing a large trip:
I have always wanted to travel to other parts of the world, and now I have. I have learned A TON about myself and others, one of the main things I’ve learned is that I have a really hard time being alone, I get lonely easily, and so when I’m cycling alone it makes me appreciate my friends/family even more so.

What are my dreams:
I eventually want to own a financial advising firm that aims at helping college students and family businesses. I also want to become good enough at surfing so that one day I can surf Pipeline in Hawaii.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and I need somewhere to sleep some nights during my journey, and I plan to return the favor when I return to California. So let me know if you’re ever coming over!!!

Music is one of my favorite things, so I can’t tell you my favorites, because it depends on the genre!

I just finished watching the Harry Potter series, again. However since I’ve been cycling, I find I’ve been loosing interest in movies and shows

Favorite books:
The Alchemist, Rich Dad Poor Dad, anything written by Rick Riordan, and any business books that teach me new things

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went to Costa Rica for two weeks, helping a town build a church and then helped build a water tank and pipe for a village, so that they can get clean rain water instead of using river water that gets them sick.
