About Me

Hello I'm 69 and I'm English. Originally I come from Worthing, Sussex, England. I came to Denmark for a holiday in 1984 and never went back home.

I have a nice clean guest room, with 2 single beds, and a comfy sofa in the living room. Please note the single beds, sleeps one and not two. I also have 2 large single mattresses, so if you are two and don't mind the mattresses on the floor, your most welcome to stay. You can use all facilities in the apartment. There's internet or if you have a iPad or ThinkPad, there's wifi. There's also a nice little stereo in the guest room which if you so wish, you can plug your mobile into and listen to your own music. There's clean towels and bedding.

My girlfriend lives in Copenhagen and we both visit each other, so preferably my flat would suit a girl.

When I was young I had a great time hitch hiking around Europe, I met some very nice people, I hope I can also help others out now

I have always found if one travels on a Wednesday, it a little cheaper, maybe its because its the middle of the week, and travel companies need to fill the seats, also book in advance. Here is a good travel links for you,

www.kombardoexpressen.dk is a nice cozy coach ride, and if you can plan your trip in advance very cheap, recommend you make a dinner box as the boat is very expensive.

www.flexbus.dk has cut down its services, Its also a cheap journey,

DSB.dk if you can plan in advance log on to www.dsb.dk and go down the menu to orange billdet, you may be lucky and get a cheaper ticket, i normally open all 3 at the same time, and find the cheapest. if you get into problems trying to buy a ticket then contact me on FB and i can walk you through the process.

If you get into problems, FB and whatsapp, me you have my name. Please note be honest from the start, if your couchsurfing says 1 traveler, then dont tell me its 2 travelers on whatsapp, Its not respectable to the host, I have experienced a couchsurfer , who got angry as i said no to her and her boyfriend after being told it was 1 traveler then on whatsapp 2 traveler, i think i wrote to her i had a couchsurfer staying with me 3 times before she understood, i also found it a little disrespectful.

Im 69 years old, i have a quiet and tranquil life, and i prefer to keep it that way.

I have been hanged out by one couchsurfer by Zaira Pulido from Columbia, who totally misunderstood what was said to her when in Århus, She was a headache to be honest as Danish coffee was not good enough for her. She stayed for 4 days ate quite a lot, and moaned more than she ate. This was my very first and hopefully the last ungrateful person i have ever met. Her reference accuses me of being a pervert, sadly in those nights she stayed, 4 nights, she slept soundly and peacefully, without any disturbances, she forgets to state that on her reference. Also she forgets to state, she never helped with the cooking or washing up, didn't lift a finger to anything. Most of my guests to be fair have been well looked after. See other references. I treated her to Aros in Århus, train fair and admission fee + coffee, was 1400 kr, it was raining and i gave her my raincoat, and she moaned as it was too big for her, even though it kept her dry, i could not believe my ears My biggest mistake i gave her a good reference, like i do to all, it was a shock to read hers i can tell you. I hope people will read other references as well

If you enjoy a nice walk then there's the art museum in Silkeborg. In the middle of Silkeborg sits the troll Stærke Storm, a wooden sculpture made by the artist Thomas Dambo, which is one of the hidden troll sculptures around Denmark - each of which has a story to tell. Go out and see if you can find him - and find out precisely Stærke Storm's background story. This sculpture is at the back of the museum, a little walk in the woods.

Theres also a lovely boat ride to Himmelbjerg, this is a hour slow ride both ways, and the climb is steep, so be aware of the time of the boats/ships. I recommend you should a water bottle with you, or some kind of fluid to drink,

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I use to travel and hitch hike alot when i was young, and i still find that its nice to meet new people. Its also nice to be able to help one out.

The Apps Shelter is a nice little App to have on your mobile. Cyclists and Campers. This will tell you where you can camp for free anywhere in Denmark. This is a very good App to have.

There's pushbike here, which one can use , at ones own leisure.

Remember those that have a green tick beside their name are safe hosts, Also a host cannot see your reference of them, until host and traveler have given a reference, If you get into any form of difficulty and your near me call, get me on whatsapp or FB both places Jonathan Upward

If we don't meet up, i hope you have a great day time in Denmark.

Interests

I have many interests, I like to listen to music, enjoy a good film, read a good book, go for a nice walk, where I live is so much nature, woods, streams, lakes. Like a good game of crib (card game) I am also good at writing bad poetry, you could say I'm a natural.

Teach, Learn, Share

the greatest education in the world is life. The day we stop learning, is the day we are ready to die there's only one religion in the world. The human race.

Not far from where i live is a great massage place, sauna and steam baths, I must admit i have used it a lot, as i had some back issues, i recommend you try it out, its been there for many years. Silkeborg has a lot of lovely nature, you can go for really long peaceful walks in the woods, some are near the water,
