My name is Jon. I graduated from my undergrad with degrees in Computer Science and Neuroscience and currently work as a software engineer in New York City. I love to travel and have done so in the past helping out at various organizations in southeast Asia. Subsequently, I am very comfortable with new people, feeling at home in new and unusual environments, and respecting the environments and cultures I enter.

I come from a family of musicians. I play piano, guitar, and saxophone. I love to meet others with creative interests, and get together for jam sessions, artistic explorations, or just intellectual conversations.

I travel a lot, and usually have many friends, and friends of friends, who stay at my home. I realize I could benefit from the generosity of others across the country and globe to provide me with a place to stay. In return I will be a great friend, very hospitable, and considerate of your space and willingness to host. I think the idea of staying at the home of benevolent strangers is a great idea, but i always like to play it on the safe side.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

On my last night alone in Osaka, Japan, I saw a drunk Japanese man stumbling on the sidewalk. No one else wanted to help him. I waited to see what he would do, then I saw he collapsed on the floor. I ran to a store, bought a bottle of water and rushed back to him. Still no one else helped him by this point. he stood up with blood gushing from his head from the fall to the pavement. He rejected my water, but I insisted, and he sat and drank the water. I am not sure I saved his life, but I'm glad I stepped in; sometimes someone needs to do that.
