About Me

I'm friendly, have great stories, and like people. I try to be courteous and build up people around me as well as foster a culture of fun!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have a job interview in Seattle on the 13th and I think it would be a great introduction to couch surfing. Why not start now?

Interests

Music, music theory, guitar, piano, bass, and vocal. Karaoke is fun. I love to geek out with custom electronics and using old phones to do neat things they were never designed for.

I cook some pretty dynamite Mediterranean food and a variety of other stuff. I love a good wine with a meal.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music - where to start? I challenge anyone to fail at finding common musical tastes with me :)

Books - usually technical stuff but in my earlier years I was big on fantasy books.

Movies - a little known gem: the wrong guy. It came out in 1997, and immediately bombed. It didn't get the recognition or success it deserved. It starts off slow but really finishes well. I think it's on netflix.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Why pick just one?
1. I've jumped into a river rapid to save someone that didn't have a lifeline
2. I've played music for a crowd of almost a thousand
3. Helped plan (but couldn't join) a trip to Thailand's Dalit people that resulted in at least a year of food and education so far for 200 kids
5. Skipped #4
6. Wrote software that ran on a 220,000 core IBM BlueGene supercomputer

Teach, Learn, Share

Two more words and they'd have the opening or closing line of a haiku. Neat.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Gratitude, music lessons (piano, guitar, or bass - must have own instrument or give me notice to bring mine), stories and jokes, recipes, encouragement, tech advice, friendship, and if I can afford it a small gift from local artists, breweries, etc.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada

Countries I’ve Lived In
