About Me

My Myanmar name is Ko Lin Thu. I am a USA citizen living and working in Yangon, Myanmar as an Education Consultant. I travel often throughout South and Southeast Asia, conduct trainings and workshops to encourage teachers and children's workers.

I love the couchsurfing community and the friendships that are made whether through hosting, being hosted, or meet ups. I love getting to know other people and knowing their stories, culture, and way of life.

I love being single.

I love Jesus Christ. Though I am a sinner, He has completely saved me. With my eternal state secure, I strive to honour Him in all I do. His word is my guide; I align my life to it and attempt to live like He did. Jesus hung out with people from every walk of life, demonstrating love to all people. That's how I want to live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to meet people from many different backgrounds and cultures. I enjoy learning words and phrases in some languages while trying to master others. Everyone has a story. I want to hear new stories and tell you mine.

My first CouchSurfing experience was in Brazil. Since then, I have surfed in Thailand, Singapore, The Philippines, Indonesia, and I enjoy welcoming guests in my home in Myanmar.

Interests

In addition to connecting with kids, I love to quilt, edit videos, paint, travel, take photographs, work out, watch a good movie, and make new friends. I love exploring a new foreign city, stopping for a cup of hot local coffee. I love experiencing God in the Bible. I love the natural, untouched beauty of mountains and beaches, yet I also love the bustle, noise and chaos of the city. Life is short, so I love spending it with people. Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read The Bible, The Narnia Series, and typically any Young Adult Literature that has been made into a movie. I also like Sci-Fi, Action/Thrillers, and Romantic Comedy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I hand fed a giraffe in Kenya (1987). I rode a camel around the ruins of Jericho, Palestinian Territories, on Christmas (1987). I cuddled with a Koala in Australia (1996). I hiked to the top of an active Volcano in Guatemala (1998). I journeyed to the Island of Iona in Scotland (2000). I have climbed six 14,000-foot mountains in Colorado, USA (2002, 2005, 2007, 2022) I toured the ruins of Machu Picchu, Peru (2005). I have circumnavigated the planet three times: west to east (2006-07 and 2013), east to west (2009). I have eaten a live grub in Liberia (2007). I have twice set foot on five continents within a two month span (2010 and 2013). I have attended a 4-day magical Indian wedding that put Bollywood to shame (2010). But the greatest thing, beyond what I every could do on my own, with someone who I cannot yet physically see, the greatest moment was and will always be when I accepted Jesus' free offer to have an intimate relationship with Him. To this day, the reality of that relationship far exceeds all others (1983).

Teach, Learn, Share

Every time I enter a new place, I go as a learner. Though I am a teacher by profession, I am the novice. It is time to ask questions, to study, and to inquire. New languages are opportunities to build relationships with people that have something to teach me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer you my friendship. I look forward to sharing stories over food. If there are the means for me to cook for you, I have a few favourite recipes I would love to share.
