My mission is to go down still trying.

ABOUT ME

I am a senior guy very engaged in a wide range of social enterprises and very active. I am a thinker and a doer. I like adventure, exploring new cultures and learning from others. Finally after a good many years of life, I have come to realize that I all I can do is be present fully in the moment. The future is out of my hands and the past is just that...the past. My work was as an executive director of a mental health agency helping victims of trauma using the arts. We provided services for abused children and women; veterans, refugees. I have served on Board of Directors of an international peacebuilding organization and a theater company. I am also deeply involved in the big questions in life about spirituality and human consciousness. I am a New Yorker at heart and love this city and all its intensity, diversity, artistic excellence as well as its hard lines and grit.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a few folks...great experience. I haven't surfed myself yet. Like to share my home and stay in the home of someone living in the country I want to visit and learn about. In these times its more important for us all to connect from all cultures and share our humanity together.

Music...all kinds. But tend to go back to the "good old days" of 60's music; classical; international folk music
Books: mostly biographies and history
Films: mostly international or independent small budget movies; But loved Dr. Strange; The Hours; The Lives of Others; In A Better World; too many to name..and the great old classics by French, Italian and American directors as well as Ingmar Bergman films. Usually always attend the Human Rights Watch Film festival in NYC.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Hopped over the fence at the edge of Mt Vesuvius crater at 11 pm at night (oops, illegally)with a friend and climbed down into the steam and sulfur smoke on the hot rocks at the edge of the drop using iphone flashlight.

Ok, one more. Hang gliding off a mountain over the lake in Pokhara Nepal and feeding meat to an eagle who landed on my gloved hand while circling and gliding with us.

Both done over the age of 60...so just remember! Its never too late until its too late!
