ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Jonny. I work on sailing ships.
Originally from Duluth, Minnesota, I've been traveling for the last four years. Most of my travels have been by sea and have sailed nearly all of the U.S coastal waters. In between boats I've spent a lot of time hitchhiking the U.S.

PHILOSOPHY

"Observe. Analyze. Adapt. Assist." Is something I came up with for crew training, but is just a good operating system. Above all, however, my mantra is "Be Decent. Be effective."

I'm new but eager to help/meet/explore!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mostly through friends of friends. My last trip abroad was my first time utilizing CS while on a trip. Also getting to know a lot of people who work on boats has given me a number of opportunities to stay fun places.

I enjoy the adventure/romantic/maniac side of literature and poetry, Kerouac, London, Conrad, Hemingway, Orwell, Vonnegut, Mark Twain, Masefield, Whitman, Kesey, Ginsberg, Bukowski, ect.

Music: Whatever sounds good, a lot of Folk/Traditional, Classical, Jazz, Punk, but mostly old Rock and Roll.

Movies: Whatever makes me think.

I feel like I have a lot of random knowledge combined with some pretty interesting experiences; I like story telling and being able to use stories to offer wisdom.
Also anything to do with boats or sailing I feel I have a pretty good grasp on.
