About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To discover China!

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Jon, I'm an English teacher and taught in Italy for a number of years. I studied History at SOAS and enjoy traveling partially for this reason. I'm trying to learn Italian and Spanish.

I'm easy going, pretty stupid a lot of time, easily impressed... give me a drink and at least I find myself very amusing.

I love to read, to eat (vegetarian food) and to drink, preferably all at once.

I'm very keen on running and love to swim, especially in the sea. When I was in London I volunteered for a running organisation called parkrun, which I'm obsessed with. Check it out: www.parkrun.org.uk.

I love all types of games, card games, board games, some sports, the more pointlessly complex the rules the better.

Anyway if you're in London and you want to have a drink with a familiar face, let me know, and I'll try and get back to you!!

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy is pretty standard, be good to people, hope the same in return.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm travelling at the moment and hoping to meet kind and friendly people for cultural exchange.

When I have a place in London I'll be happy to host people!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite books include Thomas Mann's "Death In Venice," "The Leopard" by Tomasi, "Brideshead Revisited" by Evelyn Waugh, Antal Szerb's "Journey by Moonlight", Donna Tartt's "The Secret History", "White Fang/Call of the Wild" by Jack London. I love the "His Dark Materials Trilogy" by Philip Pullman, and you know of course Harry Potter...

I like The Strokes, Florence and the Machine, The Husbands, Chet Faker at the moment, things of this ilk... indie/folky... Adele is for me, obviously, a national treasure.

Movies I like anything really beautiful and pretentious or anything really
tacky and bad. Directors I like include Sorentino, Fellini, Wong Kar-Wai, Almodovar. But I love movies like Dude Where's my Car and Clueless as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Riso, Hazlenut and Chocolate Gelato in Gelateria Pellachia, Roma and Parmigiana di Melanzana made by Danni and Chiara.

Countries I’ve Lived In

Italy, United Kingdom
