I love travelling and meeting people from all over the world. It is wonderful that the world is interconnected and I greatly enjoy learning about other cultures and new things. At the same time I cannot help but worry about the climate change and global warming as well as the social and economic destruction that tourism often causes, most particularly so in a capitalist world. I'm saddened and horrified by the fact that some people can travel freely just for leisure while others are so greatly restricted even if migrating because of economic or social reasons, sometimes even fleeing for their lives. Europe is at the moment an antithesis to global solidarity, with refugees being sent back in spite of violence and continuous threats or traded with Turkey, all the while the EU is condemning people who rescue others that are crossing the Mediterranean.

I do my best to reduce my ecological impact (flying less, trying to live ecologically) and have among other things found I greatly enjoy travelling by bike. I don't have any particular criteria for whom I host and I'm happy to welcome anyone - I'll be extra happy if you make the effort to find ways of travelling by bike or train, or if you hitchhike or the like!
