ABOUT ME
I am Joost, born on May 3rd, 1989 in Weesp, which is a small town near Amsterdam. Nowadays I study Geology at the Urecht University. I really like this study, mostly because you have to study geology outside, for example near the beach in Spain.
I like playing field hockey, at least a sport were the Dutch have actually won the world championships. Also I used to play football (soccer), but due to a lack of talent, I usually watch it with friends rather than playing it.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I have watched reasonable amount of movies. I like different movies genres, with the notable exception of romantic (comedies). The movie that I liked best is probably Monty Python: Search for the Holy Grail. However the movie that affected me is Hotel Rwanda
Music: I find a lot of music interesting/good. I really like Bruce Springsteen and the Beatles, but I also like some hip-hop artists for example
Books: I am/(was) a big reader. I am literally raised with reading books. I like different genres: Fantasy (Tolkien, Phillip Pullman etc.), romans (lots of authors), detectives ( I especially like Donna Leon, she writes thoughtful detective set in Venice) and popular science ( Richard Dawking and Bill Bryson for example).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
After graduating high school I traveled with a good friend trough Western Europe with only a backpack and a train ticket. It was great and we saw lot of great cities like Paris, Barcelona, Venice and Florence.
I have also been on holiday with my parents to America and Indonesia, both were great countries with beautiful nature. In both I have been trekking, walking through the mountains/ 'wilderness' with only your backpack, which lead in Indonesia to climbing a (dormant) vulcano and in America in encounter with a couple of Black bears
