About Me

My name is Jordan and I am currently a graduate student at the University of Maryland, with a focus in International Development. Previously, I worked as a Primary School Teacher in North West Uganda for the 2 years. I come from the South Carolina in the US, and hopefully I can embody all of the positives of southern hospitality and at least some of the charm.

I went to university between 2011 - 2014 and graduated with my Major in History and Minor in Philosophy and am fascinated with how peoples and cultures interact, evolve, and develop based upon their shared and different histories and stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To travel and meet people in new places, in a new environment, and in a much more authentic atmosphere then you can find in tourist traps and big hotels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I slept in a krall of the Karamojong nomadic peoples of North East Uganda where we danced, sang, sat around the fire listening to stories (thankfully translated for me) while drinking local brew before falling asleep with the clan in the open around the fire and under the stars.
