ABOUT ME

I'm a writer and student, currently living in Laramie, WY. I used to be a journalist, specializing in health and science issues. Then i decided I wanted to be a pharmacist instead. As all that may suggest, I'm sorta nerdy and very curious about the world around me. I have a lot of interests, and I love hearing new ideas and having new experiences, whether it's discovering a great new band or standing up on a surfboard for the first time!

PHILOSOPHY

The answer to "do you want to go along?" is always "Yes."

Pleasant, uneventful journeys seem alright at the time, but they rarely make good stories.

I'm new here! And unfortunately, I don't have space to host anyone overnight, but I love meeting new people and I know all the best coffee shops and bars in Laramie :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Love in the Time of Cholera, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, The Poisonwood Bible, A Short History of Nearly Everything, Cadillac Desert. I'm also a news junkie (former journalist...)

Movies: Forrest Gump, Love Actually, Chinatown and other old Jack Nicholson movies, most everything Pixar makes

TV Shows: How I Met Your Mother, Good Eats, Breaking Bad, No Reservations

I'm also a big fan of public radio programming. My favorites are Radio Lab and Planet Money.

Music: I go through phases. Last year, I was listening to a lot of Tom Petty and Pearl Jam. But for the moment I've given up rock and roll for the blues, and my favorites artists are Amy Winehouse and Diana Krall.

Food: I love it. I travel a lot, and I love trying food from different cultures. Currently, my favorite cuisines are Korean and Ethiopian, and my perennial favorites are Thai, Italian, and Japanese.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My sister and I ran a half marathon together when we were both sick. It took us ages to finish, and we both threw up on course, but it was somehow one of the best experiences of my life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a little bit about storytelling, and I'm a decent proofreader and editor. I've also taught several people to use an SLR camera.

In addition, I know several great recipes: oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, stuffed tomatoes, and amazing chicken paillard are among them.
