ABOUT ME

My name is Jordan Downer and I am 23 years old from Ontario, Canada. I am currently living in a medium sized Ontario city located 90 mins east of downtown Toronto. I am a very family oriented person and love to be surrounded by family. I have dog and love all kinds of pets. I just recently graduated from college for broadcasting, but also took a year of television. I currently work as a full-time radio producer and on-air personality. Music is a huge part of my life along with sports. Being Canadian, you can probably guess that I am a HUGE hockey fan! I also enjoy football, baseball, basketball, lacrosse and soccer.

Throughout high school and even before that I was babysitting children and providing childcare for not only a large number of my cousins, but also other children ranging from preschool through seventh and eighth grade (references available if requested). I love working with children, and many times throughout my life I considered becoming a middle school teacher. My goals and aspirations however took me down a different path. I love the career path that I chose, but also still enjoy caring for, helping and teaching children as much as possible. I also volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters as a big brother to a 10 year old boy for almost a year before his family moved to another city.

It has always interested me to travel and experience life in other parts of the world. My 15 year goal is to be living in the United States and having my own family. I am currently single so now is the time for me to venture out and have these experiences before I start to settle down. I would love to experience the lifestyle and culture of all 50 states.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't have any experiences with Couchsurfing as of yet, but I do have similar experience with another program Workaway. I lived with a family of 4 for 3 months at the start of 2014 in Alameda, CA in the Bay Area. It was an unforgettable experience and one that I was a little hesitant to take on, but am SO glad that I did. In exchange for a place to live, I helped the family in many different ways and it was a very rewarding experience for both of us. Hard to say goodbye after becoming so close, but we still keep in touch on a regular basis.

Interests

I have lots of different interests including the outdoors, sports, music and entertainment. Some of the things on my bucket-list are to attend a game at every NHL arena, see as many MLB ballparks as I can, attend the Little League World Series, and step foot in all 50 US states.
