Overview
About Me
An artist and philosopher at heart, I've been paying the bills working as a Software Developer and feeling a bit trapped. I'd much rather spend my time connecting with people over music, tea, board games. and dancing!
But I often find myself struggling to open up to people. I was raised in a society where men are taught to hide their emotions and any attempts to be vulnerable are met with ridicule and pain. I want to find the freedom to explore this aspect of myself without the burden of a job and expectations.
To that end, I'm following my nesting partner first to Nepal and then to London where she's going to be studying abroad. With that as a starting point, I hope to travel through Europe. I want to learn about the cultures and histories of the people who live there and find people who share my passion for art, science, and human connection.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've been discontent with my childhood travelling experiences. Go to as many tourist sites as possible in such a short time that there's no way you can form any meaningful memories of a place. Don't interact with the people living there beyond service transactions.
I want to do things differently. I want to meet people and share meaningful experiences.
Initially planning to stay only at hostels, I was told by some friends that I should try out couchsurfing. That I would meet amazing people who would show me around and share a piece of their lives with me. I'm hoping to find out that it's true!

Music, Movies, and Books
For whatever reason, I have difficulty picking favorites of things. Maybe it's because my tastes are so eclectic? So I'll just list some things that I've liked recently in no particular order.
Music: Paco de Lucia, Anderson .Paak, Kendrick Lamar, Jimi Hendrix, Jamie XX, Moderat, Led Zeppelin
Movies/TV: Singing in the Rain, Memento, Being John Malkovich, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Sense 8
Books: Dresden Files, A Brief History of Time, The Name of the Wind, Mistborn Series, Thinking Fast and Slow, Infinite Jest, Catch-22
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
12 hour, 40 mile bike ride on rough Alaskan terrain in the rain with only 1 granola bar as a snack.
Better preparation recommended, but to be fair the trail was much worse than when we'd hiked it over 4 days the previous year.
