In the meantime I turned 30. Currently I'm an escapist from the office life. I've studied for 8 years and earned two degrees, and after a year doing the thing I've been trained for, I realized I love doing way other things. Travel, become a craftsman, learn new languages, make new friends, live an active lifestyle...

People would describe me as easy going with a sense of humor, passionate about too much things, and as a guy trying many new things without fear.

I like to meet new people, share experiences and to help each other out. Meeting different people with different backgrounds, cultures, religons and ideas will grow empathy and your understanding of the world.

Also, cats are cool animals.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've been welcomed by so many people in their homes, where they cooked traditional meals, washed my laundy, gave me food for travel, and where I could sleep. By joining Couchsurfing I hope I can return some of that hospitality.

Interests

I actually combine these interests in one acitivty, for which I've used Couchsurfing (and Warmshowers) before: traveling by bike. Almost every year I make a trip by bike for several weeks. I like to camp and to document my experiences with my camera and diary. It is just an awesome way of traveling, you meet people from all over the country and all over the world, people are so welcoming in all the countries I've visited. Also, I love to be in nature!

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I love to read, though I should do it more often. I like reading novels (mostly Dutch literature, but also must reads like 1984), just started to get into some fantasy/sci-fi (just read 'Ready Player One, put it on your list!) and also semi-scientific books like ; thinking fast and slow' and 'the art of the good life'
Music: I've got quite a broad taste. Older rock (e.g. Rolling Stones, the Doors, RHCP), Britpop , Indie, old school hip hop, electronic, techno, triphop... Really depends on my mood!
Movies: Thrillers, historical, documentaries, animation, . Not so much into comedy or hardcore action (with a few exceptions)
Series: Breaking Bad, Peaky Blinders, Westworld, Game of Thrones... There are too many good series to watch.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've cycled from my home town Groningen (the Netherlands) to Istanbul (Turkey), 4400km in 5 weeks. Such a crazy ride!
