About Me

I'm a 25y old dutch guy and an Environmental psychology student. I’m currently based back in the Netherlands and hosting. If I’m a guest in your house, I’m looking for local insights and prefer to have a moment to share something (could be anything, like tea/drink, dinner, talk or also fine with nothing)

The Couchsurfing community is in my eyes one of a kind. It allows us to help others, meet new people/cultures and have likeminded people around us. I learned about this way of travelling 2 years ago and have to say that this way of travelling had a huge impact on my outlook of it.

I do believe that being open and honest is the best path to great conversation and Id like to keep it that way. Im always up for a talk/meetup and am curious to what life is bringing in front of me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I discovered the Couchsurfing community during a one-year period of traveling, which included living in Thailand and trekking through the Himalayas. I use this platform because it offers something that hotels can't: a way of meeting locals and having an insight into local everyday life.

I've always tell myself this motto: "bless another person, and you will end up feeling more blessed." This is sometimes difficult with my dutch stinginess 😂😂

If you're into hiking, climbing, diving, cycling orrrrr sports in general?? We will probably connect. But mainly..... Adventure Travel!! I fell in love with adventure travel during a year in Asia and now crave challenging trips. I spent this summer bikepacking from the Netherlands to Switzerland and I’m always ready for a new challenge to grasp myself into. Difficult in the netherlands, so that's why im planning to travel a lot the next years....

Im definitely not a philistine. I do love to go to museums especially with a focus on history, realism, ethnography and/or anthropology

Tips or fun facts about your region are always welcome!!!

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a huge fan of music. I do play guitar myself and would say i lean towards rock and blues. Lately, I'm into guitar players like estas tonne, classical ones and last but not least John Mayer. We can always share music if you are into that!

I barely watch movies honestly, but I do love artsy and thought-provoking ones.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've had a few moments where I pushed my boundaries: from bungeejumping, and climbing to face my fear of heights. Scuba diving to explore the underwater world. Hiking tough volcanoes like Mount Kerinci in Indonesia.

I also spent three months hiking in the Himalayas, where my ambitious, self-made itinerary managed to impress a Sherpa. (It was during this trek that I found myself sharing one small bed with three Chinese men, and im heterosexual).

Mentally, I completed a demanding 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat in Nepal and spent several months living in a spiritual community in La Gomera, Spain, exploring alternative ways of living.

All of these writings are just a tip of the iceberg ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

My motto is: you can learn something from each person. Each meeting is a mirror of your own mind and soul.
