Overview
About Me
I'm an adventurous spirit who just discovered the awesome world of traveling. I love to engage in intellectual discussion, explore new places, and learn about different cultures. I'm excited to meet people from all around the world.
When I'm not working my day job as an English teacher, I record and perform music, write novels, and work on my drawing. I also love fitness and enjoy running especially.
My books are on most major channels if you're interested in reading dystopian fiction. Check me out on Amazon by searching my name: Joseph Turkot.
As a note, I don't live in Philadelphia but right at the bridge. The city is 5 minutes from my house, and I live in a suburban bungalow in a very safe town known as Haddon Township.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to meet people from other cultures, both abroad and here at home. Since discovering couchsurfing recently, it seems like a great way to travel for free and also get an amazing experience from someone who really knows the area. I'm going to rack up some countries on the list soon. Most recently I've done cross-country USA, Puerto Rico and Hawaii.

Music, Movies, and Books
The Beatles are my favorite band. After that, I really love, or at least appreciate, most other forms of music. The most recent groups I have been working in play classic country music and metal. That right there should indicate the range. I also love good EDM for dancing or working out. But there's so much else. I really dig good singer songwriters, such as Elliott Smith.
As far as movies, it feels daunting again to list them all. My favorites growing up were Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Braveheart, Gladiator. Now I like really good suspense movies, like The Prisoners. I also love stuff that makes me feel emotional, like The Grand Budapest Hotel. I recently watched Deliverance for the first time and thought it was fantastic.

Teach, Learn, Share
Not sure what this section should contain, but any travelers who love to play music will appreciate that I have a studio in my house. It would be a great place for someone who wanted to jam and record some music in a foreign country.
I also have a huge board game collection. This is the nerd side of me. I like complex games and light, party games.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have a sectional couch, so staying here will be truly couch surfing. Everything else is standard: kitchen, bathroom, dining area, and my recording studio. I may eventually set the finished attic up as a place to crash as well, but haven't gotten to that yet.
Countries I’ve Visited
Croatia, Greece, Italy, Poland, Serbia, Spain, Sweden, Ukraine, United States
