About Me
Hi! My name is Joseph.
I am an explorer at heart. Very curious and always trying to learn new things and experience new places and people.
At home, I'm usually making something out of leather, rock climbing, or planning my next road trip. My interests lie all over the place though and I'm picking up new hobbies left and right. I enjoy diving into design, philosophy, architecture, and literature.
Honestly, if you want to know more, just ask! I'm an open book, almost to a fault.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To explore new places and make new friends. And stay under budget.
When you've spent most of your life in a small rural/suburban town like myself, I think it's only natural to have the itch to explore. I've always felt stuck in the same old - same old people, culture, architecture, politics, etc - and now that I'm in a good position to move around and make some fresh choices, I am taking full advantage of it.
The world is chocked full of interesting people and places and experiences that I feel it would be a waste of my life to not soak up as much of it as I possibly can. And the part I'm most excited for in that pursuit is the people that I will meet.
While I am not the loudest or most extroverted of folk, I do believe that the key to truly experiencing a new place is to interact with and become close to the people there. And so wherever I go, I make it a point to push myself out of my comfort zone and make some new friends. I just came across Couchsurfing and believe this is literally the coolest way of doing just that.
Hopefully, you and I will meet one day and share in some of the simple joys of being human. Until then, you can find me at either the nearest climbing gym (or crag, weather permitting) OR drinking craft beer or coffee somewhere cozy. Or, you know, in an airplane on my way to my next adventure.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love reading, but man I've got to get back into it. I like reading classics, as well as a lot of non-fiction. Just whatever interests me at the moment really.
TV/Movies aren't really my thing, but I did get into Mad Men pretty hard. And Archer. Some Bob's Burgers occasionally. I grew up on Star Wars and LOTR, so that's pretty deeply ingrained. Don't get me wrong, if someone wants to watch a good movie or show, I'm down. I'll get into it. But on my own, I'm just too busy doing other stuff!
Artists:
U2, Jack Johnson, Green Day, Ingrid Michaelson, Phantogram
Genres:
Rock, classic rock, alternative rock, indie rock, indie alternative, punk, jazz, classical, merengue, bachata
Honestly, I listen to pretty much everything but country and metal. And you won't really find much hip hop either. I just listen to things in rotating phases.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Moved all of my belongings, including one dog and one tagalong friend, across the country (U.S.)... In a Mini Cooper. I still drive that mini to this day. His name is Charles.
