About Me
Joseph WATO is an International Relations expert with a focus on health diplomacy and health financing. Civil Society leader, Wato started his work in health sector in 2014 as volunteer in the supervision of Community Health Workers (CHWs) in the health district of Obala. After one year, he became Chief of program and Executive Director of the organization APDSP (Approche Participative, Développement et Santé de Proximité) the next year. In 2018, he was nominated as Representative of NGOs and associations fighting against malaria in the Global Fund's CCM in Cameroon until December 2022. Having been at the forefront of the creation and evolution of the Civil Society Global Platform for Malaria Elimination (CS4ME) between 2018-2019, he joined in 2020 the Developing Country NGOs Delegation (DCNGO) to the Global Fund Board as malaria expert. In his determination and commitment to the cause of the communities or vulnerable, he was admitted to the Global Fund Advocate Network Speaker Bureau as Speaker from February 2023 to December 2025 and in March 2023, he joined the RBM Partnership to end malaria (RBM Partnership) as Board member representing affected communities. Today, he is the co-founder and President of the Coalition of Civil Society Organizations for Health Financing and CSU in Cameroon (COFIS-CSU).
