About Me

I'm a friendly, chill guy who has been teaching in Asia for four years.

I'm a foodie, and I literally eat everything I come across. I don't really judge food on the quality, well I do on the quantity. ha.

I studied Vocal Performance(opera) in college and I really treasure singing. I've been singing since I was 5 years old in choirs.

I recently started doing outdoorsy things when I moved after college to Taiwan.

Currently, I reside in Shanghai!

I love meeting people from different countries and backgrounds, and just hearing their stories about their lives.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on couch surfing because I honestly want to meet more people. I want to hear more about people's time staying in their home country or in an unfamiliar country. I want to hear how people made adjustments. I'm still working on figuring out what my life goals are, and I think being able to hear people's different views/opinions about life would guide me to my next destination.

Interests

I really like music. I used to be a vocal performance major(singing) in college. I've been singing in choir since I was 5 years old.

I'm interested in teaching people how to sing. I really want to hear how people's voices sound and how I could help them.

I recently started trying to do some hiking! I did a lot in Taiwan!

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite music to sing is classical, jazz, and soul.

My favorite music to jam to is pop, electronic, and hip-hop music.

My favorite music to listen to is everything, except country. (sorry guys)

My favorite movies are Into the Woods, Sweeny Todd, Watchmen, Godzilla, and some others.

I haven't actually read any books lately since college unfortunately. I do need to find time to read a book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went on a spontaneous trip by myself to Hanoi, Vietnam because the flights were cheap for 4 days. I stayed in a hostel for the first time while there and it was quite amazing. I've never traveled to another country where I was unfamiliar with the culture/language, so I was glad I stepped out of my comfort zone. Also, I took a cruise in Halong Bay and there ended up only being 9 people on the boat. It was breath-taking.

Teach, Learn, Share

I hope to teach and share to people about my time growing up in South Carolina in the United States as an Asian. This was actually a big part of my life and how I've overcome a lot of obstacles. I hope to teach people music and how it is my escape into my own reality.

I hope to learn on my travels about people's life choices, the decisions they made, their experiences abroad in another country, and any other story that comes up.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share music and the way I grew up with it. Music has helped me throughout my life, through moments of joy, sadness, and any other emotion out there. I can share how it turned me into a better person today, and how I went through college as a Vocal Performance Major. I love to sing, and I would also like to test out my ability to teach others how to sing. I'm fascinated in hearing how other people's voices sound. I literally wouldn't mind giving a free voice lesson or two.

I can share stories of me being a teacher in Taiwan and China.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Bahamas, China, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Viet Nam
