About Me

CURRENT MISSION

This changes everyday but the general idea is to keep myself and those around me happy.

ABOUT ME

I like change, I like adapting to change and seeing how I cope. I like dogs, I love food in general but I wish my taste buds were more sensitive. I like wild life and learning about how all the different animals have developed their own ways of surviving. I like introducing and being introduced to new music and finding a whole world of new sound and patterns to explore. I like travelling on trains, especially at night if I have my music. I like listening to other peoples stories and adventures, I like telling my own. I like sweets. I like talking about life's possibilities and then thinking about them some more. I like sketching. I would like to learn more languages. I like to read but it takes me a while because my mind always gets distracted and I have to read the same page over and over again. I like to cook but I'd like to get better. I love dreaming, I dream every night and think about them for days after. I like climbing trees. I like beer but prefer whisky. I like playing football, rugby and tennis, just for fun. I like talking for hours in the same bar, I like people watching, I like cloud watching. I like getting by on as little as I need, I like ending up in a place thats different and intriguing where people enjoy talking about differences in the way we all do things.
Live and let live.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Knowledge is learnt best when taught through experience. This is a great opportunity for everyone involved to have some amazing experiences and I hope I can contribute to this whether home or away : )

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't had many couch surfing experiences yet. But my first and most enjoyable one was in Prague. I was 18 and it was my first time travelling. I had been there a week and was planning to stay longer, I felt comfortable there. I met a guy called Suraj from New York who was taking some time out and had just moved in to a flat he was going to rent for a while. He offered me the spare bed that was in there until his friend arrived a month later. He was a few years older than me but we got on great. We were both there for the same reason, just for time out from our homes and to find some adventure. I stayed there for 3 weeks and we ventured down to Slovakia and Hungary after getting to know prague. My time in Prague with Suraj made me understand more about myself and realise how much more there can be to one's life. I also developed an addiction to fresh fruit drinks. I am still in touch with Suraj now and plan to visit him in NY soon.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like movies that make you think about them as you are going to sleep. I enjoy most films but my favourites are movies which are based around real life but involve something surreal in them which contradicts life's general rules. I enjoy comedy films just as much.

As I type this I'm listening to Bombay Bicycle Club's new album called Flaws. Its all acoustic and mellow. Have a look for it.
I enjoy a lot of reggae, acoustic, electro, club, rock and classical music.
I found it was best to give every bit of music I hear a good chance and appreciate it for what it is. Its better to enjoy more and dislike less.

I don't read too much at home. But when I'm on the road it's great getting in to a book. Life of Pi was the last book I read. Definitely worth the read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

After the Inca Trail there's Machu Picchu, and behind there is a small mountain called Wayna Picchu. When I got to the top there were lots of rocks with people perched on them writing their diaries. I slid down a long smooth rock to the edge of the mountain top and hung my legs over the edge. I sat there for an hour while the clouds came and went. It was so tranquil. Though there were many people, everyone there was just so in 'aww' it was silent. That corner edge where I sat was my favourite spot on earth I have ever been, so far.

Teach, Learn, Share

As I mentioned earlier I would love to become a better cook and to further my language skills. German is one language I'm familiar with so I guess improving this would be great!
I have a guitar that I take with me when I travel so I would be able to pass some basic skills on to a willing learner.
I very much enjoy sharing music as it is usually a two way activity.
