ABOUT ME

I'm a pretty quiet guy but I love to go on adventures. I'm a hard worker but when the work is done I like to have fun. I run a LOT, about 100km a week, and I'm pretty dedicated to that. I have a kinda sarcastic sense of humor, and I like to tease people, but it's all in good fun!

PHILOSOPHY

I'm still figuring it out-I'm young! Basically, I want to be old one day and sit in a rocking chair on my porch with grandchildren on my lap, and tell them all sorts of fantastic stories of my travels all around the world, meeting all sorts of wonderful people. That seems like a good philosophy.

Also, I've been shaped a lot by the collective efforts of William Ernest Henley, Bertrand Russell, and Albert Camus. If those ring a bell, we'll probably have a good conversation.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

At the moment, I live in a barracks... so I can't really host anyone... but I graduate in just under 2 years and then my house is going to become a virtual hotel! For now I just hope to meet some new people and hopefully travel a little too

兴趣

I love hiking, camping, rock-climbing, RUNNING, snowboarding, reading books, just about anything outside. Nature is beautiful! I also love the good old cities of Europe--so much history and culture. Mostly I love to travel.

Also, I absolutely LOVE music. I play piano mostly, but also a little guitar, trombone, trumpet, and organ. My mom began teaching me when I was 4, and she's a church organist, so I kinda grew up with it

It's hard to go wrong with music. But I NEVER listen to the words! Only the melody, beat, etc. I'm not sure why... But I love classical, especially Camille Saint-Saens, J.S. Bach, a little Mozart, oh and Tchaikovsky! He's great! Carnival of the Animals is wonderful, especially "The Aquarium." I like electronic music, like Deadmau5, Nero, Skrillex, Flux Pavilion, etc. as well as rock, new and old. AC/DC, Pink Floyd, Children of Bodom, Five Finger Death Punch, they're all good.

Movies: Moulin Rouge, Lord of the Rings trilogy, the Batman trilogy (especially the newest one!), Midnight in Paris, Hugo, White Christmas, V for Vendetta, Fantasia (2000), Requiem for a Dream, Black Swan

Books: There are SO many! I loved fantasy books as a kid-I read tons of them. Now I like to read books I can actually learn something from. Favorite book of all time is "Brave New World" by Aldous Huxley.

2) Seeing the Forbidden City in Beijing from above is incredible
3) Jumping out of airplanes ANYWHERE is cool

I like to learn people's opinions. I like to hear whatever they think about any topic they like! You can learn so much just from listening to anything.

I don't think of myself as a teacher quite yet, but I guess we could go with piano, English, spending too much money, arguing about things that don't matter for fun, and lots of other stuff I can't think of
