About Me

Hi!

I'm Josh from Cape Town, South Africa. I have an absolute passion for travelling, as cliche as that sounds on here, its the truth so why not start with that. The most excited thing about travelling for me is definitely the people I met and experiences I share with them. The seeing of sights is just a bonus!

I've backpacked by myself through over 16 countries, but there have been few moments of being totally alone ( although I do enjoy that sometimes) as I've met such amazing people along the way.
Travelling has made me far more trusting of the world and the ability to relate and connect with people from all walks of life.

I've recently left my full-time job at a travel company to go entirely on my own as a freelance videographer. This is an incredibly exciting new adventure as it gives me the opportunity to build the life of my dreams and pursue my passion of film and travel.

Whether it be in my city or yours, I hope to meet you one day and share some valuable experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will be honest, as I write this. I have yet to try Couchsurfing. Although I have certainly slept on fiend's couches who I've met through travelling the world!
But after solo backpacking through 5 continents, Couchsurfing makes total sense to me. Visiting another part of the world and having the generosity of a host allowing you to stay with them and show you a bit of their city is a beautiful thing. Only a local knows their city best and I think Couchsurfing opens up a new way to travel and connect with locals. It can really restore faith and trust in humanity, showing that we all like to learn, share and connect with one another.

As well as being a guest while travelling, I would also love to open up my home in Cape Town up to guests who would like to explore this beautiful city.

Interests

If I'm not visiting other parts of the world, I'm back home working and making video magic. I spend my days off mountain biking, hiking , going to the beach or with family and friends.
I also have a passion for self development and striving to be the best version I can show up as in the world

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My first fulltime job was getting paid to climb Kilimanjaro - the highest mountain in Africa- and make a promo video about it. I still wonder how the universe gifted me with something like this....but I certainly did not take it for granted: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QM6aceKJnQ&t=145s

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to meet and learn about people from all over the world. Not by reading out them but by meeting them in person. I am all for having 1st hand experiences in life.
I am always very conscious and respectful of the people I meet and the spaces they are very kindly sharing with me. I don't take any opportunity or act of generosity for granted and always wish to pay it back in some way, because I think that's how life works.
