About Me
When I set up this Couchsurfing account in 2015, I wrote about myself: "I would describe myself as a jolly person with a strong believe in that things always turn out the best." I think I still stand behind that, although 'best' is a really strong word and jolly evokes the thought of colorful dancing dwarfs. Nonetheless, I'm a positively thinking and very social person, I like to engage in all kinds of activities, of which my most dearest are sailing, skiing and hanging out with friends. I'm fluent in German and English, I've learned French in school, I live in Czechia for my PhD so I've tried to learn Czech, currently I study Spanish and in the past, I have done some courses on Bahasa Indonesia.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
The possibility of meeting new people while traveling and being part of a community based on sharing and goodwill led to this unexpected registration of mine on this platform. I'd love to offer people to stay at my place but so far, I just don't have any space to offer. I've been hosted twice in Canada which was both times a nice experience, once in New Zealand and once in Germany.
When I'm traveling to an interesting country, I sometimes write about my experiences in a travel blog:

Interests
My interests are very broad and an activity has to be very dull in order for me to not even try it out. I play guitar, I occasionally write a travel blog, I like to cook and play computer games. I also like to grow plants and do hobby astronomy. Sometimes I knit, sometimes I read and sometimes I go on hikes.

Music, Movies, and Books
I like listening to Alt-J, Green Day, Jack Johnson, Sum 41, Red Hot Chili Peppers... So Punk, Rock, Alternative and everything in between and sometimes outside.
Feel-good books: Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, The Martian
Additionally a list of feel-good movies: The Green Book, Hidden Figures, Dangal, The Kings Speech, Master and Commander, Isle of Dogs
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Finished my Master Thesis dissertation. And sailing as Crew on the tall ship Roald Amundsen in the Baltic, North Sea and Atlantic ocean.
Teach, Learn, Share
Of course I can somehow teach German and to some degree English, I could teach how to sail a dinghi or how to ski, I'm a beginner at astronomy and I like to learn and practice Spanish. Through my 'job' of course I'm learning and sharing my knowledge on plants and ecology.
