ABOUT ME

I am an avid songwriter from southern california (don't judge). Been living here in San Francisco off and on for about nine years, and have loved every second. I've had a few random jobs to pay the bills, though I moved up here to play music, and to experience a place with (oh so much) more culture than my home town. I have a soft spot in my heart for beauty, be it from the natural world, or an eclectic metropolis. I host an open mic here in the city, and love all things creative and musical. I love to travel, take pictures, meet new friends, venture outside of my comfort zone, and experience this big beautiful world we're all privileged enough to live in.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been unofficially around the program through a friend, though I started my own profile a couple years ago, just before couch surfing through 9 European countries. I also just got into the position of being able to host, though previously I've been very nomadic, and the last few places I've actually lived in, haven't had communal spaces for anyone to stay. Though now I'm back here in SF and my home is open to fellow travelers.

Any spot with a view. Guitar. Piano... pretty much anything that makes music. Hiking. The ocean. Hiking to a spot with the view of the ocean with some wine and my guitar. First impressions. New friendships. Living. Learning.

Music: If my mind is open to it, I can like it... though some of my favorites would be; Grizzly Bear, Beruit, Andrew Bird, Rocky Votolato, Iron and Wine, Explosions in the Sky, The Avett Brothers, Bon Iver, Sigur Ros, Simon & Garfunkel, and Sufjan Stevens .
Books: The Prophet, I'm down with Harry Potter. Absence of Mind. The Elegant Universe, This is your Brain on Music, and my very favorite... The Lord of the Rings. Tolkien is my hero.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Kaiaked next to a family of Humpback whales in the sea of Cortez, with them jumping out of the water about 15ft away from me. Playing my guitar and performing on the ancient streets of Europe.
