Overview
About Me
When I was 17, a classmate asked our substitute teacher about his perception of people in the U.S. He responded, "People here are so unwilling to give you any of their time." The vividness of that moment has remained with me to this day. Since then, I have made a conscious effort to be patient and bestow an understanding of other people. Admittedly, I don't always live up to it. But when I meet other people - especially from other places - I try to remember what it would be like if our roles were reversed.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I applied to be the Swedish reality TV show Allt for Sverige. The premise is that Sweden lost about 1/10 its population in the early 1900s to emigration and there are a lot of people in the U.S. with Scandanavian heritage. People from the U.S. - whom have never been to Sweden - travel to Sverige and compete in a bunch of culturally-specific challenges with hopes of learning about their ancestry & meeting relatives (grand prize). I went all-the-way to the final round of interviews for this show's second season & wasn't picked. So I took the information I had, tracked down some distant relatives, and we are friends to this day.
