About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see a larger picture of the world- away from any centralized view based on nationality, culture, class, etc.

ABOUT ME

I've been living the life of an exile since I was 10, when my parents, guided by the circumstance of poverty in Mexico, took my sisters and I to live in the U.S. It was then that, without a place to call home nor the english skills to communicate, I turned to another mode of expression that broke the language/geographical barriers: Art.
Through my drawings and paintings I was able to give a a presence and a name to my self in my new surroundings. As such, art became a necessary part of my existence.

Now that I'm 25, I'd like to travel the world and similarly find modes of expression that break the language/geography barriers.
My work focuses on the experience of exiles, immigrants, "others" ; those that feel a psychological distance from their surroundings.

Because of this, I'm certain that CouchSurfing will be filled with great experiences that will help me develop both as a person and an artist.

PHILOSOPHY

"What's essential is invisible to the eyes" - a lesson I'm still learning from The Little Prince

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I am a brand new member to the CouchSurfing community, but very excited about what this experience will bring to my personal and professional self.

Interests

I tend to live life for a living; it has become necessary for my practice: Art.
The more life & experiences within me, the more substance that I can fill a container with, whether that container be a painting, a sculpture, a writing, an action, or a thought.
I tend to also be engaged by the complexity of human mind, and so I tend to be interested in psychology, philosophy, history, mythology, archeology, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 1997, at the age of 10, my parents brought me to the U.S. on what I thought would only be a two week vacation. I'm 25 now and have yet to fully recover from the trauma of exile.

One December night, back in 2004, after having experienced my first heart-break, I went up to the roof of my house in Mexico to look at the stars. Staring at the sky & with tears flooding my eyes, I witnessed seven shooting stars in the span of 3 minutes.

Every brief time that, through an artistic act, i begin to become aware of my place and potential in the world.
