About Me
Hello! My name is Joy and I am often told I live up to my name. I communicate best through story-telling, sarcasm, encouragement and finding common interests. I love the comfort of company and simply talking, trying new foods and exploring new places. I find great pleasure in enjoying the little things in life.
A few of my favorite things are: baking and baked goods, writing cards, naps, Corgis, practical jokes, coffee, workout classes, planning, shopping and cheese.
A few of my not-so-favorite things: spicy foods and pessimism.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love home and each person's concept of what home is. I think there is immense value and intimacy in opening up your home to new people to share stories, try new activities and foods together, build relationships and simply love others well. Homes are often places of refuge and comfort, and I would love to experience new places from that perspective. I hope Couchsurfing becomes an opportunity to make new friends and share a loving piece of the world with others.

Music, Movies, and Books
As far as music goes, I am pretty open to new music and genres. A few of my current favorites are: Birdy, Ingrid Michaelson, Adele, Billy Joel and the Head and the Heart. I love musicals.
Movies: Nearly any romantic comedy.
A few of my most recent reads are: "Yes Please" by Amy Poehler, "Cold Tangerines" by Shauna Niequist and "Ender's Game" by Orson Scott Card
I also love podcasts! My current favorite is "Call Your Girlfriend," which is a very fun, feminist and political podcast of two long-distance best friends.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I work in a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and I have held the hand of a newborn baby weighing less than 1kg!
