About Me

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

CS seems like the perfect combination of social interaction, traveling, and different cultures and languages! I’m hoping that I’ll get to expand my social and cultural horizons, getting a well-rounded view of the city I’m in!

Interests

Traveling (obviously), learning new languages, reading paperback books, listening to vinyl records, taking pictures of sunsets, jogging, yoga (not really an interest, but it’s something I’d love to get into!), listening to podcasts, swimming, going out with friends, dancing, just having an overall fun time.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite genres of music are indie folk, jazz, hip hop, deep house, classical, and UK grime. Some of my favorite artists/bands include The Cure, Radiohead, James Blake, Bonobo, The xx, and Duke Ellington.

Some of my favorite movies:
Amélie, Intouchables, Price and Prejudice (2005), Incendies, Omar, Intouchables, Before We Go, Les Choristes, The Social Network, Forrest Gump, Good Will Hunting

An inconclusive list of my favorite books:
The Sun Also Rises by Ernest Hemingway, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, the Harry Potter series

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One incredibly thing I’ve done is hold a boa constrictor without crying (doesn’t sound impressive, but I’m terrified of snakes). I’ve also gone snorkeling in southern Thailand, which was a crazy experience!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: I’d be more than delighted to help with improving conversational English skills and basic cultural expressions in Philadelphia :)

Learn: I’d love to learn more about cities from a local’s point of view. Bonus points if you’re not a native of the city— it’d be wonderful to hear more about your experience! Also, if you could teach me some of your language, whether it be greetings (“hello” “please” thank you”) or more pragmatic phrases (“another shot, please!”) I’m all ears!

Share: In addition to my English lessons, I’d love to share things and aspects of my culture with you!
