i was reading Edmund Burke a while ago and his idea of pain&pleasure really impressed me. pain and pleasure does not depend on each other. the removal of pleasure does not cause pain, the feeling about the things lost is still about the things we once enjoy, so it is not and shouldn't be painful. that opened a new door for me because i've always been the one who cares too much that doesn't even dare to show that i care, because i am afraid of losing it. but i guess what i learnt from it is that to love fearlessly. not only love one person, but to love the people in general and believe in the goodness in them
