ABOUT ME

I have existed and found peace within many social systems that have been given to me- I love my family and love being with them. I love to learn and love school. I am a third year doctoral student and I taught high school social studies in Chicago for 6 years. My commitment has been to the youth and equity in education. After teaching, I learned that book knowledge makes for great conversation and witty remarks but it doesn't necessarily make you a pleasant person to be around. My journey during this lifetime is to enjoy life on the mothership!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are in this together and the community will depend on the respect and willingness of its members to listen and learn and find spaces to participate. I will be more than happy to host visitors for coffee and homegrown Chicago tours. When I am a guest, I will be very mindful of the space and energy of myself and surroundings.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Currently, I am a house and dog sitter, stationed in my mom's house. Growing up I lived between grandparents, dad's house, mom's house and slumber parties. For one month I lived in the Wyoming wilderness in my sleeping bag on a National Outdoor Leadership expedition (NOLS). There were no couches per say, but we learned how to exist with the "leave no trace" philosophy and I bring that to all my visits. The intention is that the only thing that gets left behind is a positive, loving energy.

While sitting outside a party the other night, a man that I hardly knew commented to me from across the table and multiple conversations that I struggle with receiving joy-

intellectual stuff- no problem,
manners/ politeness- no problem-
Thinking about a billion viewpoints on an issue- no problem

But for me to let go and allow myself to be joyful and to trust myself is something that I yearn to be.
