ABOUT ME

I am 36 years old and currently live in Springfield, New Jersey which is in the greater New York City area about 20 miles west of Manhattan. I have been teaching since I finished my Masters degree back in 2003. I am very interested in travel and have visited some cool countries on various study tours. My occupation allows me to teach about many of the areas in which I have traveled including South Africa, China and Japan. The older I get I am trying to view life as more of an adventure. The richer your experiences the more fun life can be.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am can be both an introvert and extrovert depending on the situation. I am new to the couch surfing community and want to use this concept as a way to meet more of the local people when traveling. I have been to a number of countries but often feel like a tourist. I am looking more for that local perspective and I am confident that couchsurfing will enable me to accomplish this.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have two friends who have hosted and traveled to other countries using couchsurfing. They are the ones that introduced the concept to me. While traveling through Europe two years ago, I couchsurfed in Prague, Vienna and Florence. All were great experiences that allowed me the opportunity to get to know the locals.

Traveling to the Great Wall of China was pretty AMAZING! Visiting survivors of the atom bomb in Hiroshima is an unforgettable experience. Last summer, I went to Robben Island (where Nelson Mandela was held prisoner for 27 years) also amazing! Getting the chance to visit Soweto (urban black townships in Johannesburg also unforgettable). Ziplining in Costa Rica was something that I never thought I would do because of my fear of heights but I did it!

I like learning from anyone that will allow me to grow in some capicity as a person. People who challenge me intellectually, physically, and emotionally.
