About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Just graduated college, traveling the North East by foot/any means possible. I already hike 740 miles on the Appalachian Trail!!

ABOUT ME

25/M Love everything outdoors! Grew up fishing and hunting, and playing sports. I cook in restaurants through high school and college. I had an art scholarship to college for ceramics, although I later gave it up. I love playing ultimate Frisbee and going to concerts, cooking, doing things completely and ! and lately I have been hiking the AT. I walked from NYC to Milinocket ME. It took me 10 weeks to walk the 740 miles, but it was so much fun! I put myself through college, which was a long journey too. A 7 year stint of my life that began with an art scholarship, for ceramics, and ended with student loans. No regrets though. I worked in restaurants through college, and most of high school, usually I was a cook. I still love cooking. I like to be active and am up for anything that sounds fun! I also love sports! Ultimate Frisbee is my favorite.

PHILOSOPHY

The world is a wonderful place, if you let it be.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am traveling at the moment. I dont have a couch right now, but one day...

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

No direct CS experience but this I think was close...One day while hiking the Appalachian Trail, I was trying to get a hitch from the library back to the trail. A nice lady stopped and said that she could take me to the trail, but I would have to eat dinner with her family first. The food was great, and the people were awesome! They let me shower and offered their couch for me to sleep on, as it was getting late.

Movies. I miss movies at the moment, I like adventure and comedy movies most. Braveheart was a longtime favorite of mine
Books. Recently have been reading some classics. White Fang, The Swiss Family Robinson, Sherlock Holmes, and some others. Growing up I liked Gary Paulsons, The Hatchet, and The Harry Potter series. Also Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain was such a good book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed up Mt. Katahdin in Maine. It was the end of a 740 mile hike. I carried everything I had on my back, including a tent that I made. The conditions for my final summit were nothing less than amazing! It started snowing before I got above treeline. Once out of the trees, it was a 3 mile hike on ledges and boulders, over the ridge. The wind was ridiculous! It was snowing so much, and mostly sideways. I didn't see anyone for a long time, but kept coming across random hiking gear. This inspired some odd thinking, but it had been such a long journey for everyone, so getting rid of some things last minute was the best thing I could hope for lol. I knew that some others were at the summit that day. I had to keep reminding myself of this, bc turning back was the only sensible thing to do. It was freaking scary up there.
Visibility ranged from a hundred yards, to 10 yards, and out of the snowy, wind blown clouds I saw some other hikers returning from the summit, covered in ice!
Most of the guy's beard's were covered in ice too! It was crazy, but inspiring. They said I was close, and I had to be. I had been exposed for about 2 hours now, and there was no turning back. I did make it to the top, and am so glad that I set out on this trip. It was absolutely amazing. Another world, in our country!
