About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find a (warm) place in the world to stay for a bit longer (now Im permanently moving from place to place)

ABOUT ME

In my CV I'm a scientist, in my soul I'm a traveler. In the laboratory I play with lasers, lenses and photons and try to understand the world of quantum physics better. When I escape from work (and I do it over and over again) I pack my not-very-big (since I try to travel light) backpack and explore the world. I love meeting people, learning about cultures and local habits, try new tastes. I choose tracks that are not beaten by tourists and to do so hitchhiking seems to be the best. My 'normal' state of mind is, therefore, wondering what will happen next and what adventure will come while I'm standing on the road with my thumb up. I traveled this way in almost 60 countries (often alone) and the adventures I had and people I met were simply amazing.

PHILOSOPHY

Not all who wander are lost.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The best!

I love couchsurfing, I met so many good people this way and I think this is the best way to know the place you travel to from the inside (the real culture and the way of living, not the postcard places only)

Interests

travelling, travelling, travelling... :)
hitchhiking, hiking in mountains, rock climbing, alpinism, walking, riding a bike, knowing different cultures, good movies, wildlife photography, dancing (especially salsa), good food of the world (both cooking and eating)

yes. I like them;)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Done:

During my studies I went to Tokyo for an internship. When the work had finished I packed my backpack and hitchhiked all around Japan. It was my first solo trip, I didn't speak a word in Japanese and I couldn't afford hotels so I slept in a tent wherever the night has found me.

When I finished masters at the University I went for a half a year alone trip through South America. Traveled hitchhiking through Caribbean, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia. I even managed to hitchhike boats on the river of the Amazon and went deep into the jungle!

I got trapped because of bad weather for 5 days in small village Villa O'Higgins deep in Patagonia. I spent this time participating in local celebrations, dacing traditional dances and experiencing how slowly the life can go on once you are so far from big civilisation. Very unique experience!

I hitchhiked in Pantanal in Brazil and didn't get eaten by a Jaguar :D (As they later told be it was risky to walk along the road there. Good I didn't know before cause I wouldn't have seen all the beauty of Pantanal otherwise ;))

In Cambodia I bought a cheap red motorbike. I was alone, knowing nothing about bikes (only a theory where is a clutch, where to change gears), never drove one.
Bargained good price by making serious face and pretend I had an idea what was going on. Then sat on the bike and made theory into practice. I drove alone for 2000 km through cities, villages and wilderness of Cambodia. Not only learnt how to drive but also what can break down (almost every day! ) in a motorcycle and how to repair it (or how to explain that to Khmer mechanic that doesn't know single word in English ;) ).

Seen:

Western Australia - absolutely amazing piece of the world!

Toucans flying around in Pantanal, Brazil. (I LOVE toucans!)

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share and teach everything I'm good at: travelling informations, cooking, physics;)...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook sth polish, I can share my time, my stories, a beer (or two), smile, good energy, traveling tips, scientific tips (why not to do PhD in quantum physics;))
