About Me

I'm Juan, a young journalism student that loves to write and has a critical view on the world and its issues. Sometimes I float on restless idealism and sometimes it switches over to impending doom. I have lived in several countries (Mexico, Venezuela and France), which has given me the chance to take in different perspectives. I'm pretty chill and rarely lose my temper. My goal at the moment is to finish uni and start writing seriously for a paper.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm on CS because we took in guests in France and I realized how awesome of an idea it was. Meeting people and discovering other outlooks in always positive.

Interests

My interests are varied: I have intellectual wants and adore books. Also I have an aesthetic sensibility and love photography and art (lately I've been getting more into modern stuff). Music is essential for me, and I play (or try my best) guitar, bass and the ukulele. Languages are one of my strong suits, I learn quickly and adore seeing how the different perceptions shape them. I thrive with intellect and good conversation. Oh, and these thing don't mean I can't drink or party like a MF!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music is very varied. I love mostly anything guitar-based, specially blues, classic rock and a bit of metal. Punk concerts are awesome. I also have gotten into the underground electronic music scene (raving) and enjoy it thoroughly. I always keep open ears and love to discover new things.

I love movies but I realize there are still many more left to discover. The last movies I saw in the cinema were Deadpool and Lobster, both of which I liked very much.

Books are my passion and I couldn't possibly make a list. I can hold literary conversations for hours and love to exchange insight. Latin american authors are one of my weaknesses and try to read as much Bolaño, Borges, García Márquez, Paz or Rulfo (to name a few) as I can. The last book I finished was 'Frankenstein' and I loved it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent a month sailing through Morocco's coastline.
