I am a junior at Louisiana State University studying political science focusing on international politics and law, and triple minoring in international studies focusing on Middle Eastern politics and society, mass communications and disaster science and management.
I was recently a Freelance News Editor at DIG Baton Rouge, and a Senior Contributing News Writer for The Daily Reveille, LSU’s student run daily newspaper, where I covered Student Government.
I’m originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, which has been the ultimate reason why I decided I wanted to be a journalist. I was a young child when hurricane Katrina ravaged my city, and seeing the death, destruction and utter chaos that consumed my city, made me realize that I wanted to be a story teller. If information truly is power, what better way to contribute to society than by providing that valuable information?
I started my career in journalism when I was selected as one of a winners of The Huffington Post's "Cover the Conventions" contest which gave me the opportunity to report from The 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida.
I am passionate about anything and everything international. I am completely obsessed with maps, foreign languages, current events, writing and photography. I am a news nerd to the core.
My ultimate goal is to become a foreign correspondent covering the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa. I hope to focus my reporting on conflicts and humanitarian crisis.
