About Me

I like little unimportant pieces of information. I like how language works and how languages are interconnected and influence each other, especially in Europe.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd love to see a new town every weekend if possible and meet many people, learn more about the language and culture I'm about to teach to German kids and hopefully make some friends! I hope to be able to see more of the UK while I'm there.

Music, Movies, and Books

One of my all-time favourite films is "In Bruges", I'm enthusiastic enough about Oscar Wilde's work (esp. "The Picture of Dorian Gray") that I wrote my master's thesis about it and didn't start hating it half-way through. (that's an important point, I think!). I also like Terry Pratchett a lot and I do find Shakespeare very entertaining. I do watch TV-shows a lot, at the moment mostly British ones - there's a lot of weird stuff on British TV. especially comedies! :D
I don't listen to music much, to be honest. I do sometimes like to listen to Irish folk, a German comedian/singer or classical music. Usually I much prefer audio books. I listen to those all the time, especially at the gym! ("Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire" at the moment. Harry Potter was a big part of my life ever since I was 11 (yes, LONG ago) and I'm not ashamed to admit that I still love it!)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I wrote a book. Not a very good one and it wasn't published (it was just my bachelor's thesis) but I never actually managed to finish a story before, so I was proud of that. But I hope many much more amazing things will follow!

Teach, Learn, Share

I have learned a bit about teaching German in the last month and a half (well, telling pupils the way they say stuff is wrong - and trying to guess what the rules behind it are!) As mentioned, I do seem to know many unimportant facts about stuff.
