About Me

Teacher, relocating from Colorado to Napa. I had a history of hosting and surfing that was wiped out when the couchsurfing team revamped their website.

I've stayed with some great guides in some cool spots in New Mexico and Colorado, and hosted several folks on their way through Colorado.

I'm also a chaplain, and I have an Australian shepherd who is a great therapy dog. We volunteer in hospitals and hospices.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I enjoy meeting people, and love to travel. I had a consultancy which involved a lot of international travel, and I like the serendipitous meeting with people. Somehow, it makes the world a smaller, friendlier place.

Interests

Kids. I'm going to teach history, once I'm settled.

Also, agility with my dog.

And quilting - I'm a fabric-aholic, and love working with color and texture.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm an opera fan - I've worked fundraising for the SF Opera and SF Symphony.

Also most country western, especially on a road trip on the radio.

My favorite movie is Saragossa Manuscripts, an obscure Polish film about a book of medieval Spain, filmed with French actors, in which characters tell stories that eventually intertwine.

I read voraciously, but more than that meditate daily.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

With 10 friends, we stopped the low level nuclear waste dump from being placed next to the Colorado River in Southern California.... Citizen activism.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love teaching and learning - I'm credentialed to teach history, English, and science and have also Latin and esoteric Japanese sewing.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm a great organizer. With one host, I helped her tackle reorganizing her closet and sorting her paperwork.

And I'm told I'm a great cook, although I'm not a professional at it.

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Canada, China, Czech Republic, Finland, France, Germany, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In
