ABOUT ME

My name is Jule, I'm 25 years old and I'm from Germany. However, I currently live and work in St Albans in the United Kingdom. I love Great Britain and I'm going to travel as often as possible during my year abroad to see as much of this wonderful country as possible. It's very important to me to get in touch with local people at the places I travel. I think it gives you the chance to get to know a place from a completely different perspective than when you do it the touristy way.

Musik, Filme und Bücher

Books: Reading books is one of my favourite ways to escape reality. I don't really like the idea of reading on a small electronic device though, I prefer books made of paper which you can smell, and touch, and which look pretty when you put them on the bookshelf.
I'm very flexible concerning the content of books. Whenever I grab one in the bookshop and the story seems interesting to me, I buy it. However, I think I have a penchant for classic childrens' books like "The Secret Garden" or "Marry Poppins".
Films: I truly love the "Cornetto-Trilogy". Nick Frost and Simon Pegg are in my opinion the two funniest people in the world. And I like the British black humour.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

One of the most amazing things I have experienced in my life was the interrail tour that I did with two of my best friends when we had passed our A-Levels. We started in England, went on to Scotland and Ireland, and eventually got back to London. I'm not sure whether the couchsurfing community already existed when we started our journey, but we would have been really lucky if we had gotten the chance to get to know a lot more people that way (even though we got to know many people anyway ;-) ).

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I would love to teach my hosts how to knit. I'm an incredibly passionate knitter and if somebody shows the slightest interest in it, I have to abstain myself from forcing them to learn how to do it.
Also, I would enjoy teaching German, there are after all 100 Mio. people on earth who are German native speakers ;)
