About Me

I am a curious person that loves travelling, good food, wildlife, nature and the outdoors in general, cooking, laughing, dancing, photography, cycling, dark chocolate, tropical fruits, music, swimming, snorkeling, walking barefoot, learning new things, rain forests, coral reefs, mountains, meeting interesting people, data visualization and science fiction : )

The best (and bravest) thing I have done so far was to leave everything behind and travel around the world for a year. We made it to 11 countries (Switzerland, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Malaysia, South Korea, Australia, Indonesia, New Zealand, United States, Jamaica), giving each adequate time to leave an impression. We managed to achieve a great combination of house sitting, couch surfing, airbnb'ing and road trips while working remotely on various jobs. We saw amazing places and met a lot of wonderful people along the way.

Now that we are back, we have settled in Hamburg again, focusing on travelling around Europe for the near future. We are looking forward to meeting and hosting people from around the world here in Hamburg as well as on the road around Europe.
Also: learning Spanish and some coding

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because I love it and think getting to know new people is one of the best ways to spend an evening! I've hosted and surfed and had plenty of people sleeping on various of my couches and have slept on other people's couches before joining Couchsurfing. I have always enjoyed it a lot!

Interests

Some more things to complement the upper list of things I love and enjoy... reading, languages, crisp fresh air, conservation, cherries, being torn between fear and fascination of spiders, surprises, being foolish, weird dreams, marine mammals, sustainability, touching stuff, fog, snorkelling, trying new food, riding trains, maps, data science, birds, snow, walking around, being tipsy, meeting new people, catching up with old friends, learning about other cultures and customs...

I love Indie Music, especially Indie Folk and Rock, singer/songwriter and some electronic stuff as well as feel good road trip music. Sometimes I also listen to Jazz, Blues, Country, Reggae, Rockabilly, Swing, Soul, Irish music etc. ... (even though I mostly don't have a clue about these genres) - I love to discover new music so please inspire me!!
At the moment I listen a lot to Jaymay, Angus & Julia Stone, Devendra Banhart, Blind Pilot, Cat Power, Eddie Vedder, Fanfarlo, Fleet Foxes, The Head and the Heart, Johnny Flynn, Kate Nash, Ola Podrida, Yael Naim, ... and many more

As for Movies I like science fiction, independent cinema, great pictures, amazing landscapes, alien species, futuristic, independent ones, weird ones, movies with multiple plots not in chronological order that fuck up people's minds, ... and many more

I read a lot of travel guides and science fiction books

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hm... I once spotted a stick insect on a wall in Sydney. It did its best to look and move like a little wooden stick in the wind and indeed did a pretty good job but I uncovered it nevertheless ; )
Also: travelling around the world for a year, climbing an active volcano, watching seal pups play in a rock pool on the beach, checking me out, or... well, let's talk about it when we meet!

What I Can Share with Hosts

Sharing is awesome, be it a glas of wine, a meal, a story or just company.

My boyfriend and I are always very keen on meeting like-minded and differently-minded people and being part of local life as it makes the travelling much more fun. When surfing, we always make sure to be respectful of our host's home and customs and are very responsible and tidy, making sure to leave everything clean and neat when we go. We are happy to help out with anything that comes up, just give us a hint! We are always happy to bring wine, cook, invite our hosts for a beer or simply buy some toilet paper : )
