I am a biology student with a passion for the outdoors and building good relationships with good people. Right now I live in Minneapolis, MN, but I have been living in Portland, OR for the last 5 years and I hope to return to that area for graduate school in the next few years. I grew up in the Rocky Mountains and in New England, and I have lived/travelled in many different places around the US (including Hawaii and Alaska). When I am not doing biology research, I work as an outdoors hiking/camping guide and I work as a science/math tutor and an outdoor environmental educator. I am self-sufficient and low maintenance. I am kind, loving, and friendly, and I aim to treat every human with respect. I am outgoing, I love meeting new people, and I love making new friends. I also love to share good food and a beer or two, especially when I'm in a new area (I like to cook for people too!)

Regardless of cost, this is the best way to travel, no doubt about it. There is no other way I'd rather get to know an area than staying with local residents. Happy to return the favor when I have a stable home to offer (which I do, for now, in Minneapolis).

Once, I got to play with my nephew in the dirt and watch his eyes light up with wonder and laughter when he found a rolly polly bug.

Lehren, lernen, teilen

I study mushrooms and I love to teach people about them (how to ID them, how to cook with them, how to grow them, etc). I am also interested in plants, wild foods, natural medicines, and forest ecology. I have also worked as a teacher in biology, chemistry, and environmental sciences. I love to talk about ideas. I love to learn from others and share in good conversation. I also know a lot about outdoor adventures and backcountry medicine.
