About Me
My name is Julia and I'm a senior at SLU where I study English, Spanish, and Urban Poverty Studies. I'm involved in Campus Ministry as an intern and I also volunteer at an off-campus after school program for kids. I love traveling, inside the U.S. and abroad! I studied in Córdoba, Argentina during the spring semester of my sophomore year at SLU and took classes, became proficient at Spanish, and interned at a non-profit organization that provides employment and social services to young people who have struggled with poverty, incarceration, and/or addiction. After I graduate this spring, I hope to spend a year of service working at a non-profit organization and living in community somewhere I've never been before, hopefully speaking Spanish. I hope to pursue a master's degree in social work after my year of service. If it hasn't been made clear already, I'm passionate about social justice and love people!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I think Couchsurfing is an awesome way to get to know new people at the same time as getting to know a new city. Being able to experience new places alongside natives seems like a really unique and cool opportunity and I can't wait to start Couchsurfing!
Music, Movies, and Books
I love Mumford & Sons, the Head and the Heart, Vance Joy, and Jack Johnson. My favorite writers are Toni Morrison, Maya Angelou, and Mary Oliver. I don't watch many movies, but am a big fan of Sandra Bullock films!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in Argentina! People take boats from there to Antarctica during certain seasons of the year!
What I Can Share with Hosts
Baked goods and laughs! I've been told I'm pretty funny, but that is up to you to decide!
