About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Chase the light and let stories happen

ABOUT ME

Lay in the grass and watch the sky.
Lay in the grass and listen to music.
Lay in the grass, listen to music and watch the sky.
Cycle and chase the wind. Cycle and be chased by the wind.
Stay at home and read the book.
Lay in bed in the candle light, watch at the ceiling and listen to music.
Walk in the park and watch the birds.
Seat in the park and listen to music.
Go to the seaside and listen to the sea.
Run through the sand and feel how it's massaging my feet.
Get lost in the unknown city and explore the streets.
Trek in the mountains and breathe.
Go to the live concert and dissolve into music.
Have a deep conversation with someone.
Always question the conventional definition of sanity.
Stay away from cliche self-descriptions.
Love the way of being.
If you can help expanding the list or join the existing one, I'll be happy to be a part of the company.

PHILOSOPHY

Never treat someone else the way you wouldn't want to be treated. Do not hurt if you do not want to be hurt. It has to be a mutual respect regardless the differences between each other.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had an opportunity to host friends and be hosted by friends long before discovering CS and came to know CS when planning a trip to Brazil. I made some good friends on that trip and met other Couchsurging travelers on the way, and still in touch with many of those people. I know that life will throw many more challenges at me but I still hope to have an opportunity to stay involved with the project as it's awesome in many ways.

Interests

For a long time music was the air that I breathed. When I felt overwhelmed with the feelings, I wrote songs to my guitar. Photography was my second big passion for years in a row. But 6 years ago I started putting significant effort into studying photography techniques and the principles of working with light. It slowly started taking over the music. The driving force for me is grasping moments of landscapes, cityscapes, streets, abstract forms that allow me to tell a story from various angles. In the past 2 years aerial photography grew big on me.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of the music I am very fond of: Archive, God Is An Astronaut, Colour Haze, Radiohead, Alt-J, King Crimson, Rush, Porcupine Tree, Frank Zappa, Devin Townsend, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Blur, Muse, Phish, The Chemical Brothers, Dalriada, Masfel, Korai Öröm, Kerekes Band, Zagar, Yeasayer, Mike Keneally, Primus, Mr Bungle, Nuclear Rabbit and other Jean Baudin works, Smashing Pumpkins, Alice In Chains, Screaming Trees, Joe Bonamassa, Buddy Guy and well...quite a few more :)
Not watching lots of movies, but the ones I love are the ones that get into my head. The Double, Inception, Amazonia, Man On the Moon, The Truman Show, Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind, Science of Sleep, Little Miss Sunshine, And Everything is Illuminated, Annie Hall, Stardust Memories, Mulholland Drive,The Big Lebowski, Donnie Darko, Brazil, Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus, 12 Monkeys, Requiem For A Dream, The Wrestler, Pi, The Fight Club, I Robot, The Matrix Trilogy, Black Mirror series and well...perhaps, a few more :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Getting up the Pico Ruivo at Madeira island. I had not been in the mountains before, coming from the flat country like Estonia. And although it was a tiredsome path with lots of ups and downs, it was an incredible feeling to get up capturing all those wonderful and psychedlic views around.

- Back in the earlier days playing with the band was another undescribebale experience. Now that the years are gone by and I'm no longer with any band, I still treasure that moment out of my memories.

- Sziget Festival in August 2010. It didn't matter how many live performances I had seen. This is where you'd feel how music unites people. The whole atmosphere around was incredibly friendly, you could start talking to anyone about anything at any time. Or just go on your own flowing through the crowd and feeling those positive vibrations around. There was magic in the air.

- Walking barefoot through the swamp in Pantanal, while looking for anaconda and seeing hundreds and thousands of birds rising up to the air. It was mean and beautiful at the same time. We had not been able to find anaconda though but the scenery witnessed by us was so much worth it.

- Snorkeling with fishes near Dubrovnik

- Watching the sunset in Vladivostok after travelling via Tans-Siberian route.

- Road trip in Iceland. Chasing aurora, witnessing amazing landscapes, hitting Icelandic weather extremes, living on sausages and frozen vegetables - and to all that add a special travel companion to share these things with. A good trip instantly turns into amazing trip.

- Surviving the cold nights in the tent in Cortina d'Ampezzo camping

- Surviving sand storm in Morocco

- Shooting milky way in Picos de Europa and sleeping under the stars

- Playing badminton with locals in the streets of Porto

Teach, Learn, Share

For a long time I wasn't sure what people could learn from me since I always had a feeling my knowledge was not big enough. Now I'm embracing the understanding that sharing knowledge as you learn is as important.
Yet I'm not the one to decide what influence I have on the other people as I wouldn't want to be doing it for the selfish reasons. Learning is something that keeps going on throughout the lifetime. Experience exchange is what really matters. Sharing the moment is all.
