ABOUT ME

Julia works as a Teaching Fellow with Citizen Schools working with middle schoolers in Redwood City. Linden is a Job Coach for adults with developmental disabilities through Community Gatepath in San Bruno. We're colorful and easygoing. We like to cook and eat good food, make crafts and art, knit, watch weird movies, bicycle, and try new things.

PHILOSOPHY

Soaking up sunshine while we have it. Investing in friendships and community. Learning through living. Trying to be welcoming and affirming as a general course of action. Never discounting extreme possibilities. Eating burritos.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Survived our first cross country road trip thanks to couch surfing (awesome!!) and hopefully will be able to offer up our couches in the future (as soon as we have couch to offer!).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We couch surfed from Ohio to San Francisco in the summer of 2010. We have been couchless for a while, but are hoping to give back in the near future!

Interests

crafts, reading, writing, knitting, bike rides, critical analysis of pop culture. Julia plays the banjo and guitar, Linden sings. vegetarian cooking, local produce. bollywood dance aerobics!!

Linden was in a B-52s cover band. Kate Bush occupies 10 slots on her top 25 most played song list on i-tunes. Also, Joanna Newsom.

Julia likes Iron & Wine, Neutral Milk Hotel, Joni Mitchell.

We both love Florence + the Machine, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, and Rihanna, when in need for an instant dance party.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Linden spent a summer (2008) biking from Oberlin, OH to San Francisco, CA with a group of fellow students, a dog, a cat, and converted Ford F250 support vehicle that ran on vegetable oil. This trip changed the way that I thought about my body, the things I need to survive, and the way that I think of community. An amazing way to see the country- to really feel the road beneath you- and one of the most challenging and rewarding (and sometimes frustrating) things I've ever done.

Teach, Learn, Share

We cook vegetarian food and knit pretty much 24/7, and would love to share that. We also like to sing and play music, and would love to do that too.
