open myself up to all the world has to offer
ABOUT ME
In a word - chilled. Not lazy, mind, but being a superb centre of calm. Or alternatively not at all, and spontaneously dragging people out at 6 in the morning on weekends for walks.
I recently moved to the UK to read law in Leicester, and I'm trying to make the most out of my university years, with all its associated exciting things. I'm friendly, keen to explore new experiences, intelligent, laid-back, and a great listener.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
My room in Leicester is open to surfers during term time, however I will need some notice to check with my flatmates. During the summer holidays, do let me know if you wanna meet up in Singapore, I'd love to show you around.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed twice, in Brooklyn and Seattle, and they've been one of the most fulfilling and eye-opening experiences I've had.
Interests
I love listening to music and it's become a pretty big part of me as a person. I must have my earphones in when I'm commuting, exercising or just getting somewhere, especially when I've discovered a particularly addictive song. As a result, over the years I've associated certain songs with several significant life events. One day I shall make a playlist out of it, and it shall be completely bad-ass.
Among other things, playing tons of ultimate frisbee, reading, learning to cook and bake, getting drinks and spending time with people I love or care about.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In my first overseas trip after two years of military service, we spent an amazing five days in Ho Chi Minh city, eating all the beef pho, playing an ultimate frisbee tournament, and having a great bonding experience.
On the very last morning, I remembered I still really wanted to ride on a motorcycle taxi, so one hour before our bus to the airport was due to arrive, I dragged my roommate Kenneth downstairs to the street by the hotel, flagged down two "xe oms", and told them, nope we weren't going anywhere, just bring us around the city for half an hour.
It was such a thrill, riding on a motorcycle for the first time ever, weaving in and out of traffic, feeling the sting of dirt in your eyes, and grabbing onto the seat in mild terror while desperately trying to take photographs with your free hand.
After speeding around backlanes, seeing the sun come up over the city while crossing an overpass, and getting a free bunch of bananas from a roadside seller, I'm glad that's how I ended my time there, being among the locals, soaking up all the claustrophobic yet deeply energising buzz and vibrancy of another country.
