About Me

Hey, I’m Julian – sometimes quiet and thoughtful, sometimes funny and a little crazy (depends on the vibe). I love good conversations, shared meals, dancing, and singing at the campfire.

Most of my adult life I dedicated to projects and communities for a better world – like co-creating a festival (Partycipation) and running a community center. When that ended, I took on €30k in debts, which I’m paying back step by step.

It taught me a lot and made me change direction: now, for the first time in my life, I have a regular job as a youth worker, and soon I’ll also start teaching at a free school.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Originally I joined mostly to host and connect with inspiring people.
Now I’m traveling to Cologne for a Tony Robbins seminar and I’d be happy to find a place to stay and share stories, ideas, or just good company.

Music, Movies, and Books

🎶 Music: ska, reggae, drum’n’bass, Balkan, hip hop, goa, ragga, classical
📚 Books: I’ve loved novels by Terry Pratchett, Jostein Gaarder, Douglas Adams, Michael Ende, Tolkien, J.K. Rowling, Amélie Nothomb, Martin Suter and many more. In recent years I also read quite a bit about personal growth, psychology and community building.
🎬 Movies: I don’t watch that many, but I like the ones that either make me laugh or make me think.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Helped throw a festival for a “lovable future,” ran a community center, and then managed to survive the debts that came with it. Now I call it my crash course in community, courage, and creativity 😉
