About Me

ABOUT ME

I am a student and a global volunteer. A great majority of my traveling can be attributed to the role I play as a student and a volunteer. I've taught English, studied abroad, and camped in the Sahara. When I'm at home, I work for an NPO that not only provides a safe haven for kids in St. Louis city, but also helps them to succeed academically.

I currently study Environmental Science and Spanish at Saint Louis University. I've spent most of my semesters in St. Louis, but by the end of the 2014-15 school year, I will have spent nearly the same amount of time studying in Madrid.

All I want out of life is a balance of simplicity, peacefulness, and sustainability.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately, I am just a surfer for now. I'm either in a college dorm room or traveling. However, once I am settled in Madrid, ideally, I will be able to host.

Interests

I'm interested in rocks, plants, traveling, sustainability, geomorphology, soil and soil ecology, becoming a polyglot, singularity, the role of democracy and capitalism in world politics, the continent of Africa, mushroom hunting...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Taught community English in Madrid.
- Raved at La Riviera.
- Contoured stream velocity.
- Rode a camel and camped in the Sahara.
- Restored a school building.
- Built a huge playground in one day.
- Stood in snow at the top of a mountain while comfortably wearing shorts.
- Toured real castles in Spain.
- Almost drowned in the Mediterranean.
- Saw a shooting star while laying in the Sahara sand.
- Smoked hookah and told dirty jokes in Spanish with a couple Berbers in the Sahara.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've studied Spanish for going on 10 years. My level of expertise ranges from expert (when I've been around hispanohablantes) to intermediate (when I've spent too much time in the US).

I dabble in geology and geomorphology, but I'm decent with soils.
