Now, on to the introductions! I'm Jules, a 28-year-old woman from Wales (no, it's not England!). I've been living the digital nomad lifestyle for the last three years now, travelling slowly and spending a lot of time in different countries (Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam, Bulgaria, Spain, India, Georgia and Norway are a few I spent a lot of time in the past years.)

I left Wales when I was 18 and after graduating from University, I moved to Hong Kong and worked as an English language teacher. Then, during COVID-19, I started teaching remotely and finally found a remote job as an academic English editor. I also have my own travel blog (https://realtalktravel.com/).

So yes! I'm a big nomad at heart. But the truth is, I am missing the fast-paced backpacking lifestyle. For the last three years as a digital nomad, I've been playing it safe and travelling through countries I know and love. But this year, I've decided to seek discomfort, go back to my backpacking and Couchsurfing roots, and travel solo from Bulgaria to Pakistan without flying.

On this four-month journey from Bulgaria to Pakistan, I'll visit Georgia, Armenia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and finally Pakistan.

I hope to meet as many wonderful locals and have meaningful connections and conversations as I go!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Back in my student days, I used to be a really active couch surfer, both as a guest and a host. However, because of my inactivity over the last 6 years, my profile was deactivated and I've had to make a new one.

I love connecting with locals, gaining local insights and having deep chats about life.
